Description
Positioned above the cliffs looking over the sea. If you are looking for a retreat away from the madness of modern life this is the right place for you. You can of course come alone but it is always more fun with 9 extra people and your dog to enjoy this amazing location! Recently refurbished Coastguard Cottage is awaiting visitors to create wonderful memories together.
As you enter from the lovely, refreshed courtyard the homely feel of Coastguard cottages is immediate. with the kitchen on your left and the living dining area on the right, there is an open fire. Please make use of the wood in the store. Further through the house and you have access down one small step into the only ground floor bedroom, perfect for those struggling with stairs. There is also a toilet on the ground floor.
Upstairs is the arrangement of 3 well-proportioned bedrooms. The Master with its own en-suite and breath-taking views over the cliffs, then the second bedroom also with an en-suite and the same view. The third bedroom upstairs is the kids’ room with 2 bunk beds and accommodation for 4, looking over the courtyard. There is also a family bathroom on this floor.
The outside spaces have been well equipped with modern but rustic furniture. In the sheltered courtyard there is a huge table ready for a banquet and a built in BBQ, which you are welcome to use, please leave it in a respectable state though.
The back garden is an amazing place to be on a sunny day. Sit back with a glass of wine and enjoy this unique space, the comfy pallet sofas and the sound of crashing waves many feet below you is really magical.

Please trim the hawthorn bushes in the lane leading up to the property as both our cars were slightly scratched.
Also a resurface job in the lane would be great although i appreciate that this will need all resident participation.

I was sorry to hear you found your stay expensive. Because of the time of year, the nightly rate will be higher for your accommodation, but also with the ferries as well. These will both be cheaper outside of the summer holidays throughout the year. The properties also have to cover their associated costs such as cleaning and linens, which are an equal amount to longer stays as well, but have to be covered within a shorter break. We hope to see you again on your next visit to the Isle of Wight. Emma and the Team at The Island Holiday Company |

Really nice cottage, lots of room, superb views from the rear of the property, over the Channel. 150 yards walk out of the back garden to the cliff edge steps cut into the cliff side (not for the faint hearted) provides access to a practically deserted beach with crystal clear water. For easier access, a short stroll of around half a mile takes you down to the chine and down onto the beach. The front garden (courtyard) has a fabulous bbq area with plenty of seating. The nearest pub (Wight Mouse) serves great food and is about a mile and half from the cottage and most places on the Island are within 30-40 minutes drive from the property. Overall, really nice place to stay and perfect base to discover the island.

Many positives! The house was in the perfect position on the cliff path with spectacular views. Also steeped in history. It was clean and tidy and the upstairs was especially bright and clean with comfortable beds and bedding. Good amount of equipment in the kitchen, everything could want for a comfortable stay. Loved the touches like the dog blankets in the lounge, beautiful open fire and great outside seating area with comfy cushions. Wonderful place to stay and we'll be back! Plus I should add you were so accommodating and helpful in organising our stay. I will certainly recommend you! |
